The West Philly Tool Library

By Dan Gould on September 16, 2008

As PSFK reported earlier this year, tool library’s are becoming a valuable resource for people who don’t have the space to keep a bunch of tools around, much less the everyday need to use something like a power sander.  Following in the footsteps of Berkeley’s Tool Lending Library and Menlo Park’s TechShop, is The West Philly Tool Library.

It’s home to a collection of some 350+ tools that members can check out to do yard work, home improvements, or to work on personal projects. The catalog of stuff includes almost anything you would need: angle grinders, sledgehammers, paint brushes, weed wackers, ladders, and so on. Astonishingly annual membership is only $20, or $200 for a lifetime of tool rentals.
