Future Of Retail: The BetaCup Design Competition

By Kyle Studstill on April 28, 2010

Betacup is a design competition aimed at uncovering solutions to the waste problem caused by disposable retail coffee cups (covered previously here). The Betacup group asks designers to consider elements of waste reduction, production resources, and user experience with two winning submissions to be awarded $20,000 after the deadline in June.

The above cup is one of the highlights from current entries, noted for it’s single-component construction and recyclable design. The competition hopes to shape the way retailers integrate more environmentally-conscious products into their businesses.
