Jason De Caires Taylor: Sculpting The Seas & Saving Reefs

By Claudia Cukrov on July 13, 2010

Seeking to explore the relationships between art and the environment, British artist Jason de Caires Taylor creates artificial reefs like no other.  In a constant state of change alongside tidal movement, shifting ocean sands and the eventual growth of corals and marine life; viewing the cement artworks is a challenge in itself.

Located in the Cancun Underwater Museum in Mexico, where de Caires Taylor is currently in residence as the Artistic Director; the works will encourage tourism to the gallery, and it is hoped, away from the delicate reefs nearby.
