iPhone App Uses Camera To Identify Airplane Flight Paths

By Claudia Cukrov on September 28, 2010

The Plane Finder augmented reality application gives users the opportunity to identify a plane and its flightpath using only their cell phone camera.  The app uses a virtual radar with the iPhone to list flight number, aircraft registration, speed, altitude and distance from your location. Plane Finder AR only works in areas using Automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast feeds and currently the technology has limited coverage in the U.S.

Plane Finder is available from the iTunes store here.
