(Pics) Surreal Shoes Meet Dreary Domestic Duties
Lernert and Sander have been commissioned by Selfridges, London, for a surreal celebration of the shoe: domestic and utility appliances have been cast in the guise of catwalk footwear. The cast of mundane items getting revamped includes brooms, dishwashers and even a kitchen sink with accompanying cabinets. In the words of the Dutch duo:
“We wanted to turn stock items into startlingly smart footwear. A humorous take on fashion as an ideal escape from the daily grind.”
The installations will run until the beginning of November.
