An Exploration Into The Working Of A Clock [Pics]

Renowned designer Daniel Weil’s latest work is Clock for an Architect, an exquisitely designed timepiece that has been reduced to its component parts. The object is an exploration into the working of a clock and is made of five distinct elements in ash and nickel-plated brass and silver. Each component, whether the battery that powers the clock through visible power strips, the prominent rubber belts that turn the clock or the hours and minutes numbers which are inscribed on a ring’s face and interior, are designed in intricate detail.

Weil says about his creation:

“Objects like clocks are both prosaic and profound,” says Weil. “Prosiac because of their ubiquity in everyday life, profound because of the mysterious nature of time itself. Time can be reduced to hours, minutes and seconds, just as a clock can be reduced to its component parts. This doesn’t explain time, but in a way simply exposes its mysterious essence.”
