Can Technological Products Satisfy Our Emotional Needs?

By Naresh Kumar on December 1, 2010

Funktionide is a conceptual product created by German designer Stefan Ulrich who wanted to explore the relationship between products and humans in the future. Designed as a white amorphous object that aims to serve as a companion to its owner in his times of loneliness, Ulrich tries to raise a debate on whether new technologies and future objects will change how we interact with them and if they will affect human relationships.

The works intention is to ask what happens if a product which was proposed as a relief against social isolation begins to become the solution. In this way the thesis intention is to create a picture for discussion, which enables us to question how much we want technological products to satisfy our emotional needs.
