eCloud: Experiencing Worldwide Weather In Real Time [Video]

By Don Michael Acelar De Leon on December 28, 2010

As gateways to various places around the world, airports are the first to provide a glimpse of the geographical and sociocultural dynamics of a country. An airport in San Jose, California, however, takes a giant step by showcasing real-time weather changes around the world through a unique sculpture called eCloud.

Designed by Aaron Koblin, Nik Hafermaas and Dan Goods and commissioned by the City of San Jose Public Art Program, eCloud is made up of transparent and opaque polycarbonate tiles that respond to real-time weather signals from around the world, such that passers-by would experience how the weather is in a particular country.
