Kaylene Kau’s Assistive Appendage

Designer Kaylene Kau came up with an unusual prototype for a prosthetic arm designed to operate as an assistive appendage for the good arm. It allows its users to control every movement for a number of different tasks such as picking up and gripping objects. Equipped with a motor and two cables, the mechanism which winds one cable while releasing the other, allows the arm to easily curl around (and grip) a variety of objects.
