New Game Technology Captures Facial Expressions In Extreme Detail
A new technology called MotionScan promises to forever change the way digital characters are displayed in video games. Developed by Australian company Depth Analysis, the technology incorporates hi-tech facial scanning to bring out new levels of detail and emotion.
MotionScan uses 32 full HD cameras that can record 5 times more motion capture footage than a traditional set up to recreate high-resolution 3D images of a character’s face and displaying every subtle facial expression naturally exhibited by humans. The technology will debut with the Playstation and Xbox 360 game, L.A. Noire, next year.
