Solar-Powered Food Carts Come to Mexico

Solar-Powered Food Carts Come to Mexico

By Naresh Kumar on December 6, 2010

Michael Gotz and his team, experts in solar-powered cooking, are working on making street vending stalls that use the power of the sun to cook their food. Unlike traditional food carts that rely on charcoal or natural gas for fuel, the new stands will have solar panels installed on their rooves that capture sun’s energy, available in abundance at these open-air eating hubs, and use it to heat each cart’s delicious offerings. Besides using clean energy, a solar powered street stall is also cost effective and reduces the risks caused by transporting flammable fuel.
